Zahrus slowly made his way threw the courtyard, he wasn't in much of a hurry. All considering it took him a month to get to Tar Valon, it shouldn't have, not from Cairhien. But Zahrus never liked to rush anything, unless it was absolutely necessary. He didn't really know what exactly to expect, wondering how it would play out, hopefully there wouldn't be any surprises. He hated surprises. Zahrus had been thinking just what exactly he was getting into, he knew he would have to learn training and many other classes, and the fact of becoming warder. Hah! He hated the idea of someone knowing your emotions and feelings. Oh! And of course on the plus side, if your Aes Sedai dies, you go insane. No thanks, he thought harshly. Aes Sedai, actually, all channelers scared him, he never showed it, but inside, solid fear washed over him when he came face to face with a channeler. He shuddered, subconsciously.
He was surprised with himself. Usually he never had any harsh thoughts, it was to much work, and a waste of energy if you asked him. The most recent thought that kept entering his thoughts were the White Tower library. They must have hundreds perhaps thousands of books, and Zahrus, he wanted to read everyone of them. At that thought he gave a brief smile, then yawned. He wanted to take a nap too.
Zahrus finally came to the conclusion that he was lost, yet another flaw in his character, he got lost very easily."Looking for the Head Gaidin?" A voice came.
Zahrus turned to face one of the Gaidin,"Yes, I am. How did you know?" Zahrus answered, once again he spoke in a lazy voice.
The Gaidin smiled,"You have a look of a man who's lost. And most people who get lost are usually trainees, or new recruits" He smiled again."The Head Gaidins office is just ahead. Go straight, then take a left" he turned around and headed in the other direction in a hurry,"good luck" He called over his shoulder.
Zahrus didn't even get a chance to thank him. He shrugged to himself then followed the direction. Nice guy, maybe everyone is nice. Probably not, but he didn't really care, he was there to learn, not make friends. Zahrus realized that he was finally there, he actually walked past it. He Lightly tapped on the door, a normal person wouldn't have heard it, but the Head Gaidin, he heard he was always aware. Zahrus hoped he would learn many things from this Head Gaidin.

Jari rubbed his forehead slowly. His eyes felt like someone had dragged dust under his eyelids. Each blink felt like jagged needles were scraping his eyes. His head ached like he’d been hit with a hammer on each temple, and words swum on the paper before him.
Drinking last night had been the best decision. Another Youngling had been lost in the Blight, and Jari had needed something to wash the memories away. It hadn’t worked as well as he had hoped, but now only the Youngling’s face remained vivid in his mind. Most likely, the memories would come crashing back again tomorrow, but that was one of the many prices he had to pay.
Little Kya was sitting watching him curiously. He turned to look at her and she opened her mouth slightly, as though asking a question. He reached out and she lifted her head to meet his hand.
“You understand death, don’t you?” He asked her. She nuzzled his hand, her whiskers tickling his palm. “Animals always do. It’s how they survive. And apparently I survive by talking to my pet.” Jari scowled and pushed the papers on his desk away. Perhaps he should be teaching a class. Each class helped another man or woman survive just that little bit longer.
His throat seemed like it was coated in some sort of liquid. Jari stood up to fetch some water from the jug on the sideboard, but there came a knock at his door. “At least I have this use,” he told Little Kya as he limped over to open the door.

Zahrus patiently waited for the door to be answered. Maybe he isn't in? He hoped that that would be true he really didn't feel like doing this today, his feet were sore, back ached, his head rang, but above all else he just wanted to sleep. Zahruses hopes were crushed as the Head Gaidin opened the door.
Jari a'Raimel, he believed was his name. A respectable man, almost as tall as him and a....Determined face Zahrus would call it. Zahrus gave him a small bow.
"Good afternoon, sir. My name is Zahrus Kaughade, and im here to ask your permission if I may be trained to serve the tower"
He hoped that didn't sound as rehersed as it did. After all if there was one man to earn respect from in all of Tar Valon, it would be Jari.
